Book Tour: The Last Lumenian - S.G. Blaise

Today I’m excited to participate in the Bookstagram & Creative Tour for The Last Lumenian by S.G. Blaise hosted by MTMC Tours!

This is a coming of age story of Lilla, a princess and a rebel-in-disguise, who must deal with meddling gods and sudden magical abilities that she must learn to control in order to defeat the dark god before He finds her—the Last Lumenian.

Join me for a Q&A with the author! We'll talk writing process, world building, and what's next!

Lilla is fighting on the side of the refugees from oppression. But there is a bigger war brewing on the horizon - the Era War between the two ruling archgods. It threatens not only Lilla's home world, but everyone else's in the Seven Galaxies. Enemies must become friends and allies in the desperate race to defeat the archgod before He finds her.

The Last Lumenian is out now and is available for purchase at the following retailers: Amazon | B&N | Website | Kobo | iBooks

Most princesses needs saving. This one will save you.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This book has it all! Love triangles, space, political/court intrigue, and so much more!

I loved the world and magic system in this book. They’re so unique and intriguing! It was so much fun learning more about it as the world went on.

The characters are realistic, engaging, and easy to love, while still having flaws that make them relatable and sometimes annoying (but in a good way)! The love triangle is interesting and well developed and pits two classic romance tropes against each other -- enemies to lovers or friends to lovers?! It's great and I loved every second of it!

The authors portrayal of anxiety, specifically manifesting in claustrophobia, was well done and didn’t feel like it forced solely for representation. It fit the character so well and added to the depth and development.

I’d love to see a spin-off of some of the side characters in the future! Lilla’s story was strongly developed and I feel ended well, but there’s other aspects to this world I’d love to see more of, especially Glenna and Nic!

Q&A with S.G. Blaise:

Once again, a big thank you to the author, S.G. Blaise, for sitting down with me (virtually of course) and answering some questions!

Q: What was your inspiration for this book and the world and characters it explores?

A: My main inspiration came from a dream. I was on a cross-country road trip across Europe with my family. I woke up in the middle of the night, jetlagged, with an idea and wrote it down with the only illumination coming from my phone. This was the first draft of my story. Although a lot changed from this version to the one I published, the world, characters and storyline all started there.

When writing The Last Lumenian, I was curious to see how my hero, Lilla, would thrive in a fictional world trying to erase its past, as if it never existed. The world of Uhna has restrictions that span ecology, economy and society. They constantly challenge my hero to “swim or sink” - it is an oceanic world after all - thus providing the perfect starting point for Lilla’s coming of age story.

Q: What was your favorite part about writing this book?

A: There were so many to be honest! I loved discovering Lilla’s story at the same time I learned the writing craft. I loved exploring a fictional world that is similar to ours yet fantastical. I absolutely loved getting to know the main characters and the wonderful supportive cast - I called them “the fellowship of Lilla” in my head as I was writing the story.

Q: What was the hardest part about writing this book?

A: Probably understanding and accepting the “unknown” that comes with writing - I had no idea that it would take over six years to write Lilla’s first book. I learned (and am still learning!) along the way that writing is a journey and not a sprint.

Q: What do you want readers to take away most from Lilla’s story?

A: You don’t have to be perfect to be a hero.

Q: Are there plans for more books in this world?

A: I am currently working on book 2 of The Last Lumenian series, and hope to release it this fall. I am also planning a series of graphic novels, detailing the side stories of Lilla’s world. I’m excited to explore various parts of Lilla’s world through upcoming books and other media.

Well you heard it here first! I'm personally super excited to continue reading more in this world! Thank you to S.G. Blaise for agreeing to answer some questions! I hope this gives all you readers some more insight into the world and the characters!

About the Author - S.G. Blaise

I was born and raised in a faraway land, somewhere in Europe. I wrote my first short story at ten. A terrible nightmare with spider-like creatures inspired me to put my dream to paper. The following day, I read the story to my class and got a positive response (I believe there was clapping). I think adding a joke or two helped.

I didn’t really think at that time that I would be a writer. Frankly, I wasn’t thinking much at that age. . . . not to mention, I really didn’t like to read. I’ll never forget the moment when it all changed. At thirteen, I picked up the book my dad had been trying to convince me to read for years and decided to give it a chance. I read it standing by the bookcase (it was a small book, no more than 200 pages). From that point forward, my passion for books and reading continued to grow. I began to identify my favorite authors and genres. As I write this, I’m wondering what my dad would say. I’m sure it would be, “I told you so.” God bless his soul.

In 2012, a European road trip changed my life forever. During that trip, I had an idea for a story. You can call it my lightbulb moment. Although English was not my first language, I knew in my gut that I was a writer and would not let anything stand in the way of creating my first book. Other than actually writing it that is. After many exhausting conversations with my very patient husband, he finally said to me, “Stop talking about it and start writing.”

The rest is history.
