Review: A Touch of Malice - Scarlett St. Clair

I am absolutely, 100% honored to be a part of Scarlett's Street Team! As a member, I have the distinct privilege to bring you this full, complete review of ATOM! Buckle up my friends, because this was a wild ride. 💀

Persephone and Hades are engaged. In retaliation, Demeter summons a snowstorm that cripples New Greece, and refuses to lift the blizzard unless her daughter calls off her engagement.

When the Olympians intervene, Persephone finds her future in the hands of ancient gods, and they are divided. Do they allow Persephone to marry Hades and go to war with Demeter or prohibit their union and take up arms against the God of the Dead?

Nothing is certain but the promise of war.

Before we get into the juicy bits, for those who might be new to this series, let me give you some important info!

Reading Order:

- A Touch of Darkness (Sephy POV)

- A Game of Fate (Hades POV)

- A Touch of Ruin (Sephy POV)

- A Game of Retribution (Hades POV) - Winter 2021

- A Touch of Malice (Sephy POV) - Tomorrow! May 25, 2021

- A Game of Gods (Hades POV) - Spring/Summer 2022

- A Touch of Chaos (Dual POV) - Fall/Winter 2022

Scarlett publishes with reader preference in mind, so this is why the published order is not necessarily the reading order.

Books beginning with A Touch of... are in Persephone's POV. Books beginning with A Game of... are in Hades' POV.

You should read both series. The Hades POVs are NOT just retelling the same events but in his POV. There are intricate aspects of the world of the Gods that Sephy isn't privy to, that we get to learn about through Hades POV. The information in the A Game of... books are necessary, important, and overall just amazing. Read them all. You won't regret it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

THIS BOOK FREAKING AMAZING!

Whew, okay, now for coherent thoughts. This book was an emotional whirlwind. I literally experienced every emotion known to man through the course of reading this book. Happiness, joy, heartbreak, anger, all of them.

Sephy is a freaking badass in this. Hades and Sephy both learn how to communicate. Hermes wears a romper. Hecate is a good friend. Demeter is.... not a nice person.

Watching Persephone grow more into herself and her powers, while struggling with her PTSD and grief, and trying to navigate her first real relationship was just... beautiful and stunning and moving. I love Hades and Persephone's relationship and watching it blossom was such a treat.

The plot buildup was dynamic, well-done and laid the stones expertly for future retellings from the Queen. Political intricacies, social commentary, robust conflict, and well-developed side characters rounded out this dynamite book.

The ending absolutely WRECKED me and I ended up having to compose myself by staring a blank wall for a few hours. Trust me, when you read you'll understand!

I am so honored to be reading this and going on this adventure with Scarlett and you guys seriously need to read this one! If you like steamy ADULT Greek mythology retellings, check out this series! We've got one more book in this series, A Touch of Chaos. But 2 more in Hades' series, A Game of Retribution, and a Game of Gods!
