All the Tides of Fate - Adalyn Grace
Happy release day to All the Tides of Fate (All the Stars and Teeth Book 2)! Read my review of book 1, All the Stars and Teeth, here.
Through blood and sacrifice, Amora Montara has conquered a rebellion and taken her rightful place as queen of Visidia. Now, with the islands in turmoil and the people questioning her authority, Amora cannot allow anyone to see her weaknesses.
No one can know about the curse in her bloodline. No one can know that she’s lost her magic. No one can know the truth about the boy who holds the missing half of her soul.
To save herself and Visidia, Amora embarks on a desperate quest for a mythical artifact that could fix everything―but it comes at a terrible cost. As she tries to balance her loyalty to her people, her crew, and the desires of her heart, Amora will soon discover that the power to rule might destroy her.
“Make this life everything it should be.”
This much anticipated sequel from Adalyn Grace definitely delivered! Continuing the story of Amora, Bastian and the crew, All the Tides of Fate was beautifully written and wonderfully frustrating.
This duology is fantastic! The characters are well developed, realistically flawed, and easily relatable. Amora’s grief and decision making flaws are profound and truly understandable. The plot is unique, robust, and full of beautiful friendship.
Vatea and Ferrick and Casem and Shanty are wonderfully developed side characters and their relationships are all so beautiful and genuine. I love that all of the characters have such depth to them. They're all unique and flawed and just excellently written. I wish we had gotten to see more of Ferrick and Vatea's relationship though, I really enjoyed that side plot.
The resolution at the end was a bit too quick for my liking, but I do understand why it was quick. I won’t give spoilers, but it was an amazing resolution and a heartfelt sacrifice! Well done!
While I’m usually a fan of more... substantially detailed romance... but the slow burn romance was delicious and frustrating in all the best ways! I love Bastian! His and Amora's relationship is just so captivating and I love them together so much.
My only issue was the pacing. It was kind of hard to get into at the beginning and didn’t pick up for me until about half way through. I’m not sure if it’s because I was really sick (boo COVID, boo) while reading or what, but that was the only “problem” I had with this book!
This book is a sequel to All the Stars and Teeth. You can see my review for that book here.
If you love pirates, royalty, adventure, and found family stories, this is definitely a duology for you! For fans of Daughter of the Pirate Queen duology, Fable, and Dark Shores! Adalyn’s writing style is fantastic and engaging.
Huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, Macmillan Imprint, for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review!
